Dr Megan Alderson | BVSc
Hello, I’m Megan Alderson and my veterinary clinic, The Strand Veterinarian, is a dream 18 years in the creating.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1992 from Massey University and have spent my career working in veterinary hospitals all over the world.
Since moving to Auckland in 2004 with my black Labrador/side-kick, Sydney, I have been looking after fur family members and loving my job every day – especially now because of the practice I work in.
For me, being a good veterinarian is about respect, intuition, experience and working in a positive healing space. With a holistic approach to bodily health and embracing complementary practitioners, I am building a unique and enjoyable veterinary medical service with my fabulous staff, Jolene and Melinda.
Jolene Causer | Dip VN
Hello I’m Jolene. I always loved growing up on a farm surrounded by animals, so when I was older I wanted to help them in any way I could. I graduated in 2000 from Massey University with a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing.
I loved learning so much I traveled to England to enhance what I was taught. I worked there for 2 years as a locum, learning hands-on in several bustling veterinary hospitals before coming back to New Zealand to put my new skills into practice.
I am now a senior veterinary nurse and am looking at developing new skills toward alternative care in the veterinary field with a special interest in companion animal rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
Melinda McCarthy | Dip VN
Hello I am Melinda McCarthy. I have always been passionate about animals. Over the years I’ve had many pets, a turtle, budgies, mice, fish, Great Danes and cats. I currently have a dog, Molly and cats, Moonie and Cosmo.
After years of voluntary work at the SPCA hospital, I decided on a career change and completed a Diploma in Veterinarian Nursing in 2006. I am also a Reiki Master Practitioner and specialize in Animal Reiki.
It’s great having the opportunity to work with Megan with her holistic approach to animal health and wellbeing. I look forward to meeting you and your pets at The Strand soon.
